I have been thinking a lot about how to approach A.I. and what is going on with it in the world. The best way that I can describe it is that it shouldn’t be overhauling the world and industries as we know it BUT infusing it with tools that help give everyone the superpowers to focus on what their specialty is.

I value each and every one of you for coming back every week. Let’s get right into it.

AI and Photoshop

  • Adobe has introduced Firefly Image 3, available today in beta in Photoshop and the Firefly web app. Firefly Image 3 brings significant advancements in photorealistic quality, better understanding of prompts, new levels of detail and variety, and faster creative expression and ideation.

Key features of Firefly Image 3 include:

    • Higher-quality image generations with better lighting, positioning, attention to detail, and advancements to text display

    • Structure Reference and Style Reference capabilities in the Text to Image module, allowing users to reference images to influence the generated output

    • A new Generative Expand feature in the Generative Fill module, enabling users to change the aspect ratio or size of an original image

    • Better understanding of text prompts and scenes, enabling richer details and accurate text in images

    • Adobe built Firefly for direct integration into workflows customers use every day. Since its initial beta release in March 2023, Firefly has been used to generate over 7 billion images worldwide.

AI and Film Finance

  • Unknown Nightmare is a new AI-powered horror film development platform that aims to discover new screenwriters and fund their films through equity crowdfunding. The platform uses patent-pending screenplay analysis software called ProducerScore to evaluate film pitches, but it does not use AI to replace writers, directors, or producers, nor does it generate screenplays.

  • The process works as follows:

    • Filmmakers submit a pitch package for an original horror film

    • Unknown Nightmare aims to equity crowdfund $250,000 from industry investors and producers

    • If a package is selected to be produced, the submitting filmmaker retains equity in the film

    • If a package is not selected, the submitting filmmaker still has equity in the film that does get produced

Unknown Nightmare is an innovative investment production strategy that distinguishes itself from contest-based models by focusing on feature films, where filmmakers have more skin in the game.
