• Cognition debuts a top notch AI Engineer

  • Cognition, an AI startup supported by notable investors like Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, has emerged from stealth mode to unveil Devin, a fully autonomous AI software engineer. Unlike existing coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Devin is designed to manage complete development projects from start to finish. This includes writing code, debugging, and executing projects, showcasing an unprecedented level of autonomy in AI-assisted development. Currently, access to Devin is limited to a select group of users, with plans for broader availability in the future. The introduction of Devin represents a significant advancement in AI's role in software development, potentially transforming how projects are managed and executed.

• Apple and Google in talks for AI Partnership

  • Apple is reportedly in discussions to incorporate Google's Gemini artificial intelligence engine into the iPhone, according to Bloomberg News. The talks revolve around licensing Gemini for upcoming iPhone software features, though specifics on terms, branding, or implementation remain undecided. This potential partnership could significantly impact both companies, with Alphabet's shares rising over 6% and Apple's by 2.5% following the news. The deal, expected to be announced possibly by June at Apple's annual developer conference, could extend Google's AI services to over 2 billion active Apple devices. This move is seen as a strategic effort to compete with Microsoft-backed OpenAI and could also address investor concerns regarding Apple's pace in rolling out AI applications.

• Google unveils their new research on VLOGGER

  

  • Google researchers have introduced Vlogger, a groundbreaking artificial intelligence system capable of transforming a single still photo into lifelike videos of people speaking, gesturing, and moving. Utilizing advanced machine learning models, including diffusion models, Vlogger synthesizes videos that are remarkably realistic, albeit with some imperfections. This technology, detailed in the research paper "Vlogger: Multimodal Diffusion for Embodied Avatar Synthesis," does not require individual training for each person, works without face detection and cropping, and generates the complete image. It represents a significant advancement in animating still images, offering potential applications across various fields while also highlighting concerns about deepfakes and misinformation.

• Mr. Beast is set to bring his youtube personality to Amazon’s streaming service

  

  • Prime Video has officially ordered a reality competition series titled "Beast Games" from the renowned YouTube personality MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Amazon MGM Studios. This series is set to offer the largest grand prize in television history, amounting to $5 million. The show, which builds on the success of MrBeast's YouTube content, aims to be the most significant reality competition ever, featuring 1,000 contestants vying for the substantial cash prize. MrBeast will not only host but also serve as an executive producer for the series, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories globally.
