Featured Story

One year after ChatGPT's debut, OpenAI launched a platform for creating AI chatbots without coding. The GPT Store, open to ChatGPT Plus subscribers and enterprise clients, will sell these GPTs. Announced at OpenAI's DevDay in San Francisco, they also introduced a more affordable GPT-4, boasting 100 million weekly ChatGPT users. The latest models feature web browsing, DALL-E integration, and a Code Interpreter, allowing personalized AI interactions. OpenAI now rivals AI platforms like Character AI and Meta, emphasizing utility over personality mimicking bots. However, GPT creators will have limited chat data access to prevent misuse. This is part of OpenAI's push towards superintelligent AI, AGI, and aims to increase company value.

⭐️ Creative Spotlight: Quinn Halleck

  • Quinn Halleck created a short film he separated into 3 parts calling it a Sci-Fi Mini-Series: Sigma_001 opens up a new position on the spectrum of AI filmmaking: the use of AI isn’t concentrated into one or two moments of bold visual imagery; nor is it the principal creative driving force. Instead, AI has been employed as a tool across all aspects of the filmmaking workflow.

INDUSTRY INSIGHTS

Is the HUMANE AI PIN really an IPhone Killer?: Humane's Ai Pin, a $699 wearable ambient computing device, launches with a $24 monthly fee. It clips onto clothing magnetically, featuring an onboard camera, Qualcomm chip, AI, voice control, touchpad, gesture response, and projects text onto palms using a Laser Ink Display. Running on its AI-based Cosmos OS, it's independent of smartphones, focuses on privacy with a Trust Light for sensors, and connects to Humane Center for data and customization. It supports features like translation, fitness tracking, and offers an AI-driven Tidal music experience. Ai Pin's debut, echoing the Segway's buzz, marks Humane's entry into the tech elite, shaped by its co-founders' Apple experience.

Is Project Primrose “The Fabric of The Future”? : Project Primrose, created by Christine Dierk's team at Adobe, revolutionizes digital fashion. Revealed at Adobe Sneaks in Los Angeles, it turns clothes into dynamic art spaces, enabling anyone to display their creativity. Using Adobe tools like Firefly and After Effects, it offers various artistic options. Its technology has sensors in fabric that change designs with touch or motion, offering an interactive experience. It could impact other fields like furniture, opening endless creative possibilities.

Even Though The Strikes Are Over, Hollywood is At a Tipping Point: After recent Hollywood strikes, the Screen Actors Guild and producers agreed on the biggest wage rise in 40 years, better streaming residuals, and AI protections. The strikes exposed ongoing pay gaps, causing a $7 billion loss and job cuts. Hollywood now sees less production and more competition. Divisions persist over profit-sharing and transparency. The industry faces challenges in creating content and engaging audiences in the streaming era amid cultural changes.

Meta Will Require Political Advertisers to Disclose the Use of AI in Ads: From 2024, Meta Platforms will require advertisers on Facebook and Instagram to reveal if they use AI to alter or create political and social ads. This rule aims for honesty in ads that show doctored footage of people or events. It follows Meta's ban on AI tools for political ads and offers more AI ad features. The policy, addressing AI misuse concerns, especially deepfakes in political ads, allows minor edits like resizing or color changes without disclosure. Google has also introduced similar AI ad restrictions.
