Fast-tracking fusion energy’s arrival with AI and accessibility
The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $29 million in funding for 7 projects to accelerate fusion energy, including one led by MIT researchers.
The MIT team will create an open fusion data platform to make historical and current fusion research more accessible.
The goal is to break down barriers to fusion research participation and leverage AI tools to enable new discoveries.
The project aims to encourage diversity in fusion science through outreach and by adhering to open science principles.
